Path to the top

It's harder than it looks, due to the wind and altitude. There is also some ice to deal with near the summit.

Me on top

It was extremely windy and pretty cold, the wind was practically knocking me over. The sun was also very intense.

Hawaiian shrine on top

The native Hawaiians come here every year to celebrate the solstice. In the background are some of the world's most powerful earth-based astronomical observatories.

Highpoint with Mauna Loa in the background

The USGS marker is visible in the lower left.
